i have a sony tv that is placed in my armoire. for some reason, it keeps turning on by itself at night.?

It has never done this before. Can someone tell me why it does this?
Please don't tell me that it is because of ghosts because my friend seems to have the same exact problem.

Most likely it's ghosts.

But in case it isn't there's the case of the timer that's already been mentioned, but that's only if it's going on at the same time every night. 2 other options is that is might be controlled by a more powerful signal, maybe a remote in another room or house, OR perhaps the button is a little loose and it's been pressed in just enough to turn on the tv from time to time. That happens alot with older tvs. Most of the time you use a remote, but trouble starts when you manually press the button. Check the power button first, then the timer.
